CAIRO - 18 November 2025: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received on Tuesday a phone call from the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
According to the official spokesperson for the Presidency, the British Prime Minister began the call by congratulating President Sisi on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, noting that it is a magnificent cultural landmark that reflects Egypt's history and culture.
The call addressed the current state of bilateral relations between Egypt and the United Kingdom, with both sides expressing their satisfaction with the progress in cooperation across various political, economic, trade, and investment sectors.
During the call, the importance of further enhancing all aspects of bilateral relations to achieve the mutual interests of both countries and their peoples was emphasized. Both sides also expressed their commitment to further developing cooperation in development, trade, and investment.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson, added that the President and the British Prime Minister also discussed the latest regional and international developments, including the situation in the Gaza Strip.
The British Prime Minister commended Egypt's efforts in reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and convening the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit.
The importance of building on the momentum generated by Monday’s UN Security Council resolution on Gaza was emphasized to consolidate the ceasefire and de-escalation in the Strip, ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid, and expediting the reconstruction process.
In this context, the British Prime Minister stressed the necessity of delivering sufficient humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and taking all necessary measures in this regard, including encouraging more international humanitarian relief organizations to operate towards this goal.
The spokesperson added that the call also addressed developments in Sudan, where the importance of intensifying efforts to end the war and achieve stability was underscored. Both sides agreed to enhance coordination to ensure de-escalation and stability in the region.
