The spokesman, in statements to eXtra News channel, highlighted directives of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli that aim to streamlining the entry and exit procedures for tourists at airports.

The past months have seen extensive efforts to develop the e-visa system, introducing digital platforms that allow all nationalities to apply for a visa before arrival, alongside the emergency visa system available at airports, ensuring swift and easy completion of procedures, Homosani said.

The opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and the expected increase in tourist numbers, following the development of various archaeological sites, necessitated a comprehensive plan to accommodate this surge, including boosting hotel capacity and facilitating entry procedures, the spokesman added.

The efforts contribute to the state's goals of reaching 30 million tourists in the coming years, Homosani said.

He further noted that facilitating entry and exit procedures, increasing the number of upgraded ports, and improving the tourist experience contribute to boosting state's foreign currency resources.

He added that the development of airports and ports involves the full implementation of both the e-visa and emergency visa systems, which are set to be fully operational by the end of 2026.
