CAIRO – 16 November 2025: Egypt welcomed the signing of the Doha Framework Agreement for Peace between the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the M23 Movement on 15 November 2025.

This agreement represents an important step toward strengthening security and stability in eastern Congo, advancing national reconciliation, and preserving the unity and territorial integrity of the country, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Sunday.

Egypt commended the constructive diplomatic efforts of regional and international partners in facilitating this process. It also acknowledged the crucial momentum generated by the Peace Agreement signed between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Washington in June 2025, as well as the Doha Declaration of Principles signed in July 2025, both of which paved the way for this latest agreement.

Egypt expressed its appreciation for the contributions of regional and international partners, particularly the United States of America, in achieving this significant progress.

Egypt reaffirmed its support for all efforts aimed at consolidating security and stability in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Great Lakes region. It also reiterates its readiness to cooperate with various partners to enhance the prospects for the agreement’s success and the achievement of lasting peace.
