CAIRO – 15 November 2025: The Executive Director of the Egyptian Committee in the Gaza Strip, Moein Abu Al-Hussain, confirmed that the committee responded immediately to appeals for help from displaced people after their tents were flooded by the season’s first storm, state-owned news agency MENA said.
Abu Al-Hussain said on Saturday, November 15, 2025, that this emergency humanitarian response marks the first phase of the committee’s support for displacement camps. He added that tents and tarpaulins were distributed to protect the displaced from the rain, and that additional essential services will be provided to other camps across the Gaza Strip.
The Civil Defense in Gaza reported that thousands of tents and temporary shelters were inundated with rainwater, leaving many families exposed to harsh weather conditions.
A large number of tents belonging to displaced people were flooded in the Mawasi Khan Younis area.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said in a statement on Saturday that a catastrophe unfolding in the Gaza Strip, which has worsened with the onset of winter. This catastrophe requires a clear and decisive stance from the Arab League, consistent with its founding charter, as well as from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The people of Gaza are facing a war of extermination despite the declared cessation of hostilities, through the restriction of aid, the obstruction of reconstruction efforts, and the ongoing siege, all under extremely harsh living conditions.
