CAIRO – 9 November 2025: A telephone call took place on Sunday, November 9, 2025, between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, and Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations, and exchange views on regional developments and issues of common interest.

Minister Abdelatty emphasized the depth of the historical relations between Egypt and Nigeria and the growing momentum in their cooperation across political, economic, and developmental fields. He highlighted the importance of building upon the outcomes of his visit to Nigeria in July 2025, particularly the outcomes of the Egyptian-Nigerian Business Forum, underscoring the need to leverage the capabilities of both countries to enhance bilateral cooperation in priority sectors, including trade, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, mining, construction, and pharmaceuticals.

Abdelatty also affirmed Egypt’s readiness to continue sharing expertise and supporting capacity-building efforts through programs offered by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) and the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding (CCCPA).

At the regional level, the two ministers reviewed recent developments across the African continent, stressing the importance of strengthening joint African action in light of the growing political, humanitarian, and cross-border challenges facing the continent. They underscored the need for continued consultation and coordination within the African Union to promote regional security and stability, and to serve the interests of the peoples of Africa.

The call concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close coordination in regional and international forums and to further strengthening the Egyptian-Nigerian partnership to achieve sustainable development, peace, and security across the African continent.
