Egypt, South Africa affirm depth of relations between two countries

CAIRO - 5 November 2025: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa, affirmed on Wednesday depth of relations between the two countries, and the progress they are witnessing in various fields.
 
In a phone call, the two presidents expressed their satisfaction ‘with this positive course’, stressing the importance of continuing to work to strengthen joint cooperation, especially in the economic and trade fields, and to enhance coordination and consultation mechanisms in regional and international forums, most notably the African Union, the United Nations, and the BRICS group.
 
President Ramaphosa expressed his appreciation for the outcome of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and the resulting agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
 
President Sisi also stressed the need for the full implementation of the agreement's provisions, the consolidation of the ceasefire, ensuring the flow of sufficient humanitarian aid, and the swift commencement of the reconstruction process.
 
President Sisi also indicated Egypt’s intention to organize an international conference for early recovery and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip at the end of November 2025.
 
President Ramaphosa expressed his country’s desire for close coordination with Egypt in these efforts, stressing South Africa’s aspiration  to actively participate in the conference and engage in the reconstruction process.
