CAIRO – 31 October 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will on Saturday evening inaugurate the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization: ancient Egypt.
Unprecedented Global Attendance
The Presidency said the grand opening will witness an unprecedented international attendance, with 79 official delegations, including 39 led by kings, princes, and heads of state and government.
The grand opening reflects the international admiration for Egypt’s vision, one that unites the grandeur of the past, the creativity of the present, and the prosperity of the future, the President said.
It also stands as a testament of Egypt’s unique status as a cultural bridge connecting nations and peoples who share a love of heritage, culture, and peace.

Royals, Presidents from Around the World
Royal guests attending the historic celebration include kings, queens, crown princes and other members of ruling families from Belgium, Spain, Denmark, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Luxembourg, Monaco, Japan, and Thailand.
Presidents of Djibouti, Somalia, Palestine, Portugal, Armenia, Germany, Croatia, Cyprus, Albania, Bulgaria, Colombia, Equatorial Guinea, DR Congo, Ghana, Eritrea, and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta will also join, alongside the heads of the Libyan and Yemeni presidential councils.
Prime Ministers, Senior Officials Join in Celebration
The prime ministers of Greece, Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands, Kuwait, Lebanon, Luxembourg, and Uganda will grace the opening to watch Egypt opening a new chapter in its timeless history.
The museum will also host ministers and parliamentary representatives from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Algeria, Qatar, Morocco, Tunisia, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Slovakia, Austria, the United Kingdom, France, the Vatican, Malta, Romania, Russia, Ireland, Serbia, Turkey, Italy, Singapore, India, Kyrgyzstan, China, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Zambia, Angola, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, South Africa, Gabon, Chad, Kenya, Rwanda, Togo, Brazil, Canada, and the United States.
Regional and international organizations will also be represented.
Notably, secretary-generals of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will attend, alongside the chairperson of the African Union Commission as well as the high representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations on behalf of the UN secretary-general and presidents of the Arab Parliament and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Senior executives from leading global companies will likewise take part.
Grand Opening for Grand Museum
Egypt gears up for a new milestone in its cultural journey with GEM standing as a monumental tribute to the nation’s timeless heritage. GEM spans nearly half a million square meters near the Great Pyramids and houses over 57,000 artefacts showcasing the richness of ancient Egyptian history.
Among its most anticipated highlights is the complete collection of Tutankhamun’s treasures, comprising around 5,000 exquisite pieces, displayed together for the first time since their discovery, offering an unparalleled window into the splendor of one of humanity’s most admired civilizations.
