CAIRO – 31 October 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that the participation of Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi in the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) reflects the deep historic and fraternal relations between Egypt and the DR Congo.

The two leaders met in Cairo on Friday, in the presence of Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilem.

The Congolese delegation included Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Yolande Elebe Ma Ndembo, DR Congo’s Ambassador to Egypt Kasongo Musenga, and the president’s advisor.

El-Sisi welcomed his Congolese counterpart, expressing appreciation for his participation in the GEM’s grand opening,

El-Sisi also voiced his anticipation of hosting Tshisekedi again for an upcoming bilateral visit aimed at deepening cooperation and reaffirmed Egypt’s readiness to provide all support to help the DRC in the face of economic challenges.

The meeting came while world leaders and other high-level dignitaries are set to attend the opening of the mega museum, home to over 57,000 artifacts including King Tutankhamun’s treasures, on Saturday.
