CAIRO – 26 October 2025: Heavy machinery is lined up at the Rafah border crossing, ready to enter Gaza from Egypt as part of reconstruction efforts.

The convoy includes engineering equipment such as bulldozers and cranes, along with caravans to provide temporary housing for those affected.

The machinery will assist in debris removal across the enclave.

Moreover, Egypt has provided logistical assistance and equipment to help locate the bodies of remaining Israeli captives in the Gaza Strip, sources told Al Qahera News on Saturday.

According to UNDP official Jaco Cilliers, up to 84% of Gaza has been destroyed by the two-year war, with some areas, including parts of Gaza City, reaching 92% destruction.

The Israeli war has caused at least 55 million tons of rubble, Cilliers said, noting that full recovery in Gaza can take decades.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi noted last week that Gaza has been almost entirely devastated, with over 200,000 buildings, including homes, schools, and hospitals, damaged, alongside widespread destruction of water, sewage, electricity networks, and general infrastructure.

A damage assessment conducted jointly by the UN, the European Union, and the World Bank estimate that around $70 billion is needed to reconstruct Gaza.
