CAIRO - 20 October 2025: Dr. Tamer El-Husseiny, Vice President of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), on behalf of Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the EDA, held an expanded meeting with representatives of third-party manufacturing companies and warehouses.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ali Auf, Head of the Pharmaceutical Division at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, and Dr. Yosra Nawar, Board Member of the Chamber of Pharmaceutical Industries. The meeting discussed developments in the drug tracking project, implementation mechanisms, and technical and organizational aspects related to the project's regulatory guide.
The meeting addressed the challenges that may face the manufacturing companies and warehouses while implementing the drug tracking project, and suggested proposals to facilitate implementation procedures to achieve the system's objectives of ensuring the safety and smooth flow of medicines within the Egyptian market.
Dr. Tamer El-Husseiny, Vice President of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), emphasized that the EDA is committed to supporting all stakeholders in the pharmaceutical system, listening to their feedback, and providing practical solutions that contribute to the success of the drug tracking project. He noted that the project represents a qualitative leap in the regulation of the Egyptian pharmaceutical market, enhancing transparency and operational efficiency, and ensuring safe access to medicines for patients.
Representatives of manufacturing and warehouse companies also praised the Egyptian Drug Authority's effective role in supporting and developing the drug tracking system. The companies also noted that the Authority adopts a participatory approach based on open dialogue with all parties, which contributes to facilitating implementation procedures and ensuring the highest levels of discipline in the pharmaceutical market.
The representatives of the companies emphasized that the Authority's efforts in providing technical support and regulatory clarifications enhance the industrial sector's readiness to fully comply with the project's requirements. They further emphasized their commitment to fully cooperate with the Authority to ensure the project's success and achieve its objectives in regulating the drug circulation system
This reflects the state's commitment to building an integrated digital pharmaceutical system that serves the public interest and protects patient health.
Among the representatives of third-party manufacturing companies and warehouses were Dr. Haitham Dowidar and Dr. Wael Abu Al-Fotouh, members of the Board of Directors of the General Division of Pharmaceuticals at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce; Dr. Mohamed Hamed and Dr. Mohamed Abdeen, members of the General Division of Pharmaceuticals; and Dr. Gharam Mansour, representative of the Distributors Committee at the General Division of Pharmaceuticals.
Also participating in the meeting on behalf of DAF was Eng. Hatem Kandil, CEO and Managing Director, and a number of company specialists involved in the drug tracking project.
This meeting comes within the framework of the Egyptian Drug Authority's plan to enhance effective communication with industry and private sector partners, support the state's efforts to digitize the pharmaceutical system, and achieve the highest standards of quality and governance in this vital sector.
