CAIRO – 18 October 2025: The opening session of the Senate's first regular meeting of the second legislative term began today, following the reading of the President of the Republic's decree to convene the chamber.

During the session, members commenced the process of taking the constitutional oath, according to Article (39) of the Senate's internal regulation.

On October 12, 2025, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi appointed the final 100 members of the Senate, completing the formation of the 300-seat upper house following the August elections.

The 100 presidential appointees include 12 women, meeting the legal requirement that at least 10% of appointments be female and underscoring a commitment to gender representation.
