CAIRO – 12 October 2025: The eighth edition of Cairo Water Week (CWW) kicked off on Sunday morning and will run from October 12 to 16 under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The event brings together a wide range of participants, including ministers, representatives from international and regional organizations, experts, and stakeholders in water-related issues from around the world.
The Cairo Water Week (CWW) is recognized as one of the most prominent regional and international platforms addressing water resource management. It underscores the Egyptian state's strong emphasis on water as both a national security priority and a cornerstone of sustainable development.
This year’s edition is held under the theme " "Innovative Solutions for Climate Resilience and Water Sustainability,” to tackle regional and global water security challenges.
The week features a variety of panel discussions, workshops, and specialized exhibitions. It also includes scientific and research-focused events designed to foster the exchange of knowledge among decision-makers, scientists, researchers, and professionals in the water sector. Notably, this year’s event includes prominent participation from international organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and several global partners in the water field.
Dr. Hani Sweilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, stressed that holding Cairo Water Week for the eighth consecutive year reflects Egypt’s ongoing commitment to fostering regional and international dialogue on water issues. He highlighted the importance of international cooperation and knowledge-sharing in achieving sustainable water resource management.
This global event reinforces Egypt’s leadership in proposing regional initiatives and solutions related to water management, particularly amid growing global challenges posed by climate change, population growth, and rising demand for water.
Throughout the week, several memoranda of understanding and bilateral agreements are expected to be signed. The event will also see the announcement of outcomes from various initiatives and scientific research focused on water conservation technologies and improving irrigation efficiency.
