CAIRO – 12 October 2025: Egypt expressed its deep condolences to the Qatari government and people following a fatal traffic accident involving Qatari Amiri Diwan officials overnight.
“Egypt affirms its full solidarity with sisterly Qatar in this tragic incident,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday.
The ministry prayed for mercy for the deceased officials and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
Three Qatari Amiri Diwan officials died and two others were injured while aboard a vehicle. The injured Qataris were transferred to Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital.
According to Al Qahera News correspondent, the driver lost control of the vehicle, although the cause of the incident has not been officially confirmed.
The Qatari Embassy in Cairo mourned the victims, who lost their lives while performing their official duties.
The embassy noted that both the deceased and the injured will be transported to Doha aboard a Qatari plane on Sunday.
The deceased officials are Saud bin Thamir Al Thani, Abdullah Ghanim Al Khayareen, and Hassan Jabir Al Jabir.
The embassy extended its gratitude to the Egyptian authorities for their cooperation, for closely following up on the incident, and for providing the necessary assistance.
Egyptian authorities have launched an investigation to determine all the circumstances of the accident.
