CAIRO – 10 October 2025: In a new step underscoring Egypt’s commitment to promoting freedom of worship and regulating places of worship, the government’s pertinent committee has approved the legalization of 160 additional churches and affiliated service buildings.

With this decision, the total number of churches and buildings granted legal status across the country has risen to 3,613, the Cabinet announced in a statement on Thursday.

The move forms part of the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the principles of religious freedom and social coexistence, while ensuring that worship activities are conducted within a well-organized legal framework that prioritizes safety and security standards.
