Dutch fm visits Rafah Crossing, praises Egypt's efforts to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza Strip
CAIRO - 7 October 2025: Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel expressed Tuesday deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, praising Egypt's efforts to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid and medical evacuations.
During a press conference held in front of the Egyptian-controlled Rafah crossing gate, the Dutch FM noted that his country has allocated €25 million to support medical aid in Gaza in cooperation with its international partners. He emphasized that this step comes within the framework of supporting efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of civilians.
Van Wiel expressed his hope that US President Donald Trump's initiative would contribute to improving conditions on the ground and fully reopening the Rafah crossing on the Palestinian side to facilitate the flow of aid.
Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel arrived at the Rafah crossing from the Egyptian side on Tuesday, and held a press conference in front of the Egyptian gate, praising Egypt's humanitarian efforts.
During the visit, the Dutch Foreign Minister posed for photos with Egyptian Red Crescent volunteers participating in the relief efforts.
