CAIRO - 1 October 2025: Lieutenant General Kamel El Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, announced that the completion rate of the first high speed train line has reached 67 percent.
 
He further confirmed Wednesday that the first line (Sokhna-Alexandria-El Alamein-Matrouh) extends approximately 660 km, with 21 stations (8 regional and 13 express) from Sokhna Station on the Red Sea coast. 
 
The line passes through the New Administrative Capital, Alexandria, and New El Alamein, ending at Marsa Matrouh Station on the Mediterranean coast.
 
The Minister added that the project includes a main workshop in the October Gardens area, covering an area of ​​2.5 million square meters (for major and light repairs), and three maintenance points (the Administrative Capital-Borg El Arab-Matrouh) (for light maintenance), each covering an area of ​​approximately 50 acres.
 
He noted that the completion rate for this line is 67%.
