CAIRO – 26 September 2025: Israel’s Prime Minister’s Office ordered the Israel Defense Forces to broadcast Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Friday address to the United Nations General Assembly live to residents in the Gaza Strip, Israeli media reported.

The move, described by critics as a form of psychological warfare, was confirmed by the Israeli prime minister’s office Friday morning.

It involves deploying loudspeakers mounted on trucks to project Netanyahu’s speech across Gaza, with the office insisting broadcasts would take place from the Israeli side of the border.

Contradicting this claim, the Israeli army reported that some loudspeakers had been positioned at army posts inside Gaza, including locations deeper within the territory.

According to an earlier report by Channel 12, several senior officers opposed the order, citing the risks to soldiers required to leave secured positions and enter areas where they could be targeted by Hamas fighters.

One senior officer told Haaretz the plan was “insane,” questioning its military purpose: “People from across the political spectrum are asking, ‘What is this delusion?’ No one understands what military benefit there is here.”

Haaretz also cited a military source describing the move as part of psychological warfare operations.

Netanyahu’s speech is expected to address the recent recognition of a Palestinian state by major players including France, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, a development that intensifies diplomatic isolation of Israel over its devastating Gaza war.

Israel is facing mounting international pressure to halt its deadly war in Gaza, which has claimed more than 65,000 lives and driven the enclave toward famine, and revive the two-state solution, which envisions Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace within two sovereign states.

Israel has recently intensified its bombardment of Gaza City and has ordered its nearly one million residents to evacuate.

It is facing allegations of genocide following a UN report last week.

Netanyahu’s address comes hours after US President Donald Trump said he “will not allow” Israel to annex the occupied West Bank, despite hardline Israeli officials advocating the move in retaliation for the recent series of recognitions.

Trump also told reporters that “we’re getting pretty close to having a deal on Gaza, and maybe even peace.”
