Egypt’s FM meets South African president in New York

CAIRO – 25 September 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelaty met Thursday with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing bilateral relations.

During the talks, Abdelaty conveyed greetings from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, reaffirming Egypt’s appreciation for the longstanding ties with South Africa.

He welcomed the momentum in cooperation, especially in economic, trade, investment, and development sectors, and expressed optimism about ongoing coordination between the two nations in multilateral frameworks.

The minister praised South Africa’s role within the G20 and the BRICS group and confirmed Egypt’s interest in further deepening collaboration across political and economic levels.

He also expressed Cairo’s interest in participating in the upcoming G20 meeting scheduled for Johannesburg in November 2025.
