CAIRO – 24 September 2025:  Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s complete rejection of any plans to forcibly displace Palestinians during a meeting with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis in New York on Wednesday.

The two top diplomats discussed regional developments, particularly the situation in Gaza.

Abdelatty warned that Israeli displacement proposals threaten regional stability and called for increased international efforts to secure a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.

He also briefed Gerapetritis on the outcomes of the recent Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha and stressed the importance of protecting Palestinian civilians.

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast commitment to protecting religious sites, including Saint Catherine’s Monastery, safeguarding its sacred status, and ensuring the protection of its affiliated properties, given the monastery’s spiritual and religious significance.

Additionally, Abdelatty welcomed Greece’s support for Egypt within the EU and called for deeper economic and energy collaboration.

He emphasized Egypt’s interest in electricity interconnection projects and natural gas cooperation, as well as expanding ties in innovation, labor, and migration management.

The ministers exchanged views on Libya, agreeing on the need to support a political solution, safeguard Libya’s sovereignty, and push for the withdrawal of foreign forces.
