CAIRO – 23 September 2025: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said that Egypt is hopeful that Sudan will soon regain stability as its transitional government works to restore basic services and end the ongoing conflict.

These remarks came during Madbouli's meeting with Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris in New York during the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.

The Premier reiterated Egypt’s support for Sudan’s unity, institutions, and armed forces, stressing the need to protect the country’s sovereignty and ease the suffering caused by the war.

He confirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Sudan at international forums, including through coordination with the Sudan Quartet.

On economic ties, Madbouli called for accelerating reconstruction projects, including in energy, water, healthcare, and education. He called for the formation of a joint working group to begin implementing projects agreed upon earlier this year.

He also proposed holding the second Egypt–Sudan Business Forum and the joint trade committee meeting in Cairo, along with a visit from Sudan’s investment officials to learn from Egypt’s experience.

Meanwhile, Idris thanked Egypt for its continued support and conveyed greetings from Sudan’s Sovereign Council leader General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

He invited Madbouli to visit Khartoum and confirmed Sudan’s interest in drawing on Egypt’s expertise in rebuilding infrastructure and public services.
