CAIRO – 20 September 2025: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received President of the Republic of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Saturday at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, as part of Shanmugaratnam’s official visit to Egypt aimed at deepening bilateral ties.
President Sisi affirmed that Egyptian-Singaporean relations are strong, distinguished, and grounded in mutual respect and understanding, noting Egypt’s aspiration to expand cooperation with Singapore across multiple fields.
The two leaders’ discussions addressed political developments, with President Sisi highlighting Egypt’s efforts to stop the war in Gaza and to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip. He further reiterated Egypt’s firm position against the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land.
On the economic front, President Sisi stressed Egypt’s readiness to provide full support to encourage Singaporean investments and expand trade exchange between the two countries.
Speaking at a joint press conference with President Shanmugaratnam, President Sisi described the visit as a new step forward in diplomatic relations, which will soon mark their 60th anniversary. He recalled with pride that Egypt was among the first Arab countries to recognize Singapore’s independence in 1965.
