President Sisi, First Lady host dinner banquet in honor of King and Queen of Spain

CAIRO – 17 September 2025: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and First Lady Intisar El-Sisi hosted a dinner banquet in honor of King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia of Spain, on the occasion of the King's visit to Egypt.

President Sisi renewed his welcome to King Felipe VI, stressing that this visit represents a strong boost to the strategic partnership between Egypt and Spain.

The King of Spain expressed his happiness in visiting Egypt, extending his thanks and appreciation to President Sisi for the generous hospitality and warm welcome he, the Queen, and the accompanying delegation received since their arrival in Cairo.

He also praised the results of the discussions he held with President Sisi, and the tangible strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries, given the shared visions of both sides on various issues of common interest.

The presidency's official spokesperson added that the meeting addressed several aspects of bilateral relations, particularly in the economic and investment fields.

The President also praised the existing cultural cooperation between the two countries, which dates back to the 1960s, noting the importance of intensifying cooperation in the field of antiquities and exploring opportunities to organize joint cultural and artistic events, as well as enhancing academic and educational cooperation, which would contribute to strengthening rapprochement and communication between the two peoples.

The official spokesperson stated that the talks also addressed prospects for cooperation in the tourism sector, the exchange of expertise, and efforts to increase tourism between the two countries, given the unique tourism potential of both countries, particularly with the imminent opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

The spokesperson added that, following the dinner, President Sisi and the first lady accompanied the King and Queen of Spain on a tour of the Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx, where commemorative photos were taken to document the moment.

The guests, accompanied by President El-Sisi and the first lady also listened to a brief explanation of the history of the Great Sphinx and the timeless cultural heritage it symbolizes.
