CAIRO – 17 September 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised Spain's positions in support of Egypt within the European Union.

During a meeting with Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares on Wednesday, Abdelatty said he is looking forward to maintaining such support at various European institutions, especially in light of the two countries' shared positions on the importance of ending conflicts and establishing regional security and stability.

Abdelatty welcomed the current visit of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain to Egypt, which reflects the deeply rooted ties between both countries.

He also welcomed bilateral cooperation in various fields of investment, hailing the role of Spanish companies in energy and green hydrogen projects in Egypt.

Abdelatty also emphasized the importance of promoting cooperation at various levels, including tourism and education, as well as cooperation for combating illegal migration and terrorism.

Briefing the Spanish foreign minister on the outcome of the Emergency Arab-Islamic summit held in Doha earlier this week, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's categorical rejection of Israel's violation of the sovereignty of a sisterly Arab country.

He also reiterated Egypt's condemnation of Israel's ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the latest of which was the launch of an illegal ground invasion of the war-ravaged enclave.

This invasion poses a direct threat to regional security, Abdelatty said.

He also stressed the need for the international community to stand up against Israel's policies of siege, starvation, settlement expansion, and displacement attempts, noting that the only way to end the conflict and achieve peace in the region is through a comprehensive and just settlement based on a two-state solution that leads to establishing an independent Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Abdelatty applauded Spain's honorable positions in support of the Palestinian cause, including Spain's recent decisions in response to Israel's brutal aggression and systematic killing of the defenseless population in Gaza.
