CAIRO - 14 December 2025: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has warned against the rising rates of medically unjustified cesarean deliveries, stressing their long-term impact on children’s health.
According to the ministry, babies delivered through unnecessary C-sections face higher risks of being admitted to incubators for artificial respiration, as well as increased chances of developing autism and obesity.
The ministry also highlighted a link to higher neonatal mortality, weakened immunity, and greater rates of hospitalization among children.
Health officials urged mothers and healthcare providers to avoid resorting to cesarean sections unless medically necessary, noting that natural delivery remains the safest option in most cases.
