CAIRO – 12 September 2025: Egypt welcomed on Friday the UN General Assembly adoption of New York Declaration resolution endorsing the Implementation of the Two-State Solution and the Establishment of an Independent Palestinian State.

Egypt affirmed that the resolution's endorsement by 142 countries is compelling evidence of the widespread international support for legitimate Palestinian rights, foremost among which is the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state on the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Egypt also called on all countries that supported the resolution to join efforts to implement the outcomes of the UN High-Level Conference on the ‘Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian cause and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution’, held in New York last July under the co-chairmanship of Saudi Arabia and France, ensuring the resumption of the Middle East peace process and an end to Israel's aggressive policies.

Egypt emphasized that this goal can only be achieved through intensive efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and to put an end to the blatant Israeli violations and its use of starvation and blockade as weapons to force the Palestinian people to flee their land, a move Egypt rejects under any pretext or name.

The United Nations General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to endorse the New York Declaration on implementing the two-state solution and establishing an independent State of Palestine.

The resolution was supported by 142 countries, while 10 voted against and 12 abstained.

The seven-page declaration is the result of an international conference at the U.N. in July - hosted by Saudi Arabia and France - on the decades-long conflict.

Palestine welcomed the broad majority backing the adoption of the declaration and its annexes, describing it as a key outcome of the High-Level International Conference on The Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates praised Saudi Arabia and France for leading the conference and subsequent efforts to turn the declaration into a concrete action plan with clear political, economic, legal, and security tracks.

The ministry also expressed gratitude to all countries that sponsored and voted in favor of the resolution, making the New York Declaration an official UN document.
