CAIRO – 10 September 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi renewed Egypt’s invitation to Tunisian President Kais Saied to attend the official inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), scheduled for November.
Sisi’s renewed invitation to Saied came during a meeting with Tunisia’s Prime Minister Sara Zaafarani in Cairo on Wednesday, in the presence of Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and the two countries’ delegations.
During the meeting, Zaafarani stated that Saied looks forward to an official visit by Sisi to Tunisia.
Sisi conveyed his warm greetings to Saied of Tunisia, praising his tireless efforts to lead reform initiatives, boost economic growth, and achieve sustainable development in the country.
The meeting addressed means of strengthening the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Tunisia at both the official and popular levels.
The two sides emphasized the importance of continuing to enhance joint cooperation across various sectors, particularly in light of the 18th session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Joint Higher Committee, being held in Cairo.
They underlined the committee as a strategic platform to deepen cooperation and explore new prospects for integration, especially in trade and investment.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Both sides stressed the need to intensify coordination and cooperation in addressing the challenges facing the region and to work jointly toward resolving regional crises.
They agreed on the importance of encouraging the private sectors in both countries to implement joint development projects across Africa, thereby strengthening the presence of Egypt and Tunisia within their regional sphere.
GEM Opening
Egypt is gearing up for the grand opening of GEM, set to become the world’s largest archaeological museum dedicated for one civilization, on 1 November.

Cairo has invited world leaders and public figures to attend the opening, which is set to feature a range of accompanying cultural and artistic events.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized that the inauguration is being planned as a landmark international event, highlighting its importance as one of Egypt’s most prestigious national milestones in recent history.
The museum is among the largest and most modern museums globally, covering an expansive 500,000 square meters and housing an extensive collection of artifacts, including the priceless complete collection of Tutankhamun.
Many of these rare and unique archaeological finds have never been publicly displayed before, making GEM a significant addition to the global cultural landscape.
