CAIRO – 9 September 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty received on Monday, 8 September, a phone call from the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, David van Weel.
Minister Abdelatty extended his congratulations to his Dutch counterpart on assuming his new position. The two Ministers discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on developments in the Gaza Strip.
The two Ministers reviewed the catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip. Minister Abdelatty briefed his Dutch counterpart on the Egyptian and Qatari efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire in the Strip and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid. He reaffirmed Egypt’s categorical rejection of the continuation of Israeli crimes in Gaza and the obstruction of humanitarian and medical relief.
This obstruction has led to an unprecedented catastrophic deterioration of the humanitarian situation, amounting to famine, despite the presence of 5,000 trucks loaded with humanitarian and medical aid at the border. Minister Abdelatty emphasized the responsibility of the international community to put an end to these grave practices and to act effectively to halt the brutal Israeli war on Gaza and to end the policy of starvation against innocent civilians.
The call also addressed bilateral relations between the two countries. Both sides affirmed their aspiration to continue joint efforts to strengthen bilateral relations in all fields in the coming period and to coordinate positions regarding regional issues of mutual concern. These issues include economic, trade, and investment relations. The Dutch Minister affirmed his country’s keen interest in developing relations with Egypt and in taking all necessary security measures to protect foreign embassies, including the Embassy of Egypt.
