CAIRO- 3 September 2025: The Cairo Water Week (CWW) is set to return for its eighth edition from October 12 to 16, 2025, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The annual event has grown into one of the most prominent regional and international platforms dedicated to water resource management and sustainable development, offering a scientific and technical forum to address pressing challenges and innovative solutions in the global water sector.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation is leading preparations for the event, which will bring together leading experts, scientists, policymakers, and international organizations. More than 20 regional and international bodies will participate, including UN agencies and global water institutions, ensuring a strong exchange of expertise and policy dialogue on sustainable water management.

The organizing committee emphasized the regional and international dimension of CWW, positioning Egypt as a regional hub for dialogue and cooperation on water issues.

CWW 2025 will spotlight innovation and entrepreneurship in the water sector, particularly among youth and researchers. Competitions will include the Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) contest, which this year received 52 submissions, with 12 finalists from universities in Egypt, China, and Kenya.

The Young Water Innovators Competition attracted 334 projects, with 181 advancing to the next stage, showcasing high levels of creativity and commitment to sustainable water solutions. Meanwhile, the “Ala El-Qad” Initiative Competition saw seven videos and nine posters qualify from five Egyptian universities.

The National Farmers’ Competition for Water Conservation also received 433 successful agricultural practices, currently under evaluation. Additionally, the Best Graduation Project Contest is underway, reflecting the government’s commitment to promoting applied research and innovation.

The scientific committee has completed the first phase of evaluating research abstracts, accepting 116 abstracts, 54 extended summaries, and 22 full research papers. A total of 111 scientific and organizational sessions have already been confirmed.

On October 11, a day before the official opening, the World Water Council’s Board of Governors Meeting will take place in Cairo as a pre-conference event, underscoring the global significance of the forum.

Alongside the conference, an international exhibition will showcase cutting-edge water and climate technologies. So far, 17 companies and organizations have confirmed participation, reserving dedicated spaces to present their latest solutions. The exhibition is expected to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the water sector.

Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Dr. Hani Sewilam, stressed that Cairo Water Week has evolved into a world-class platform bringing together decision-makers, experts, and stakeholders. He noted that the event plays a crucial role in promoting scientific dialogue, knowledge exchange, and sustainable solutions to water challenges, while supporting Egypt’s vision of becoming a regional and global hub for water cooperation.

The minister added that all organizational and technical measures, including digital registration and logistical facilitation, are being enhanced to ensure smooth participation from individuals, institutions, and international organizations.

The 2025 edition of Cairo Water Week highlights Egypt’s leadership in shaping the global dialogue on water, agriculture, climate change, and environmental sustainability. With its growing scope, the forum reinforces Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting sustainable water management and international cooperation.
