Egypt's Ministry of Endowments opens 21 mosques, totaling 23 B LE in construction since 2014

CAIRO – 29 August 2025: The Egyptian Ministry of Endowments continues its mission to develop Houses of God, with the inauguration of 21 new mosques on Friday, August 29, 2025. This latest wave of openings includes the rebuilding and renovation of 13 mosques and the maintenance and upgrade of 8 others.

 

Since the start of July 2025, the ministry has opened a total of 121 mosques, including 97 new or rebuilt structures and 24 that were maintained and upgraded. The Ministry announced that the total number of mosques rebuilt, renovated, and furnished since July 2014 has reached 13,610, with an estimated total cost of EGP 23.5 billion.

 

New Mosques Inaugurated Across Governorates

 

The list of newly opened mosques spans several governorates:

 

Beheira Governorate: Al-Shuneiti Mosque (Shubrakhit), Abu Meira Mosque (Ezzbet Al-Shagar), and the renovated Al-Ekhlas Mosque (Kom Al-Baraka).

Kafr El Sheikh Governorate: Al-Sharqi Mosque (Ezzbet Al-Ma'zoun) and Al-Hilmiya Al-Gedida Mosque (Al-Hamoul).

Giza Governorate: Al-Gharib Mosque (Al-Ayat), Bulaq Hospital Mosque (Bulaq Al-Dakrour), and the renovated Ain Abu Sallouma Mosque (Bahariya Oasis) and Ain Idris Mosque (Bahariya Oasis).

Sharqia Governorate: Noor Al-Islam Mosque (Saud), Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque (Abu Shalabi), and Al-Tawba Mosque (Jazirat Al-Shafei).

Sohag Governorate: Al-Shaheed Fawzi Mosque (Al-Mahasna Al-Gharbiya), Al-Rahma Mosque (Arab Al-Naqa), and the renovated Al-Rahman Mosque (Nag' Al-Sheikh Fadel).

Minya Governorate: Bani Hammad Mosque (Bani Hammad).

Beni Suef Governorate: Al-Nour Mosque (Al-Bahsamoun).

Luxor Governorate: The renovated Al-Bakhyta Mosque (Esna).

Dakahlia Governorate: The renovated Al-Nour Mosque (Mit Abu Al-Harth).

Qena Governorate: The renovated Sheikh Shuaib Mosque (Hoo).

Aswan Governorate: The renovated Al-Ridwan Mosque (Al-Shamakhiya).

 

These extensive mosque construction and renovation projects highlight the Ministry of Endowments' commitment to providing a suitable and spiritually enriching environment for worshippers across the country.

 

The efforts represent a comprehensive approach to developing mosques—physically, spiritually, and intellectually—as a central part of Egypt's national development and religious life.
