CAIRO – 28 August 2025: Israeli airstrikes targeted the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, on Thursday, the AP reported, citing the media office of the Houthis.
This marks the second round of airstrikes in recent days. On Sunday, Israeli launched deadly strikes that targeted several targets in Sanaa, including the presidential palace and power stations, killing at least 10 people.
Residents reported hearing powerful explosions in the city's southern and western districts on Thursday.
The latest strikes occurred just hours after Israeli forces intercepted a drone launched from Yemen by the Houthis, the third such attempted attack on Israel originating from Yemen within the past week.
The Houthis have repeatedly stated that their attacks are acts of solidarity with the Palestinian people and a response to Israel’s "crimes of genocide and starvation."
The Houthis have resumed attacks on Israeli territory and Israel-linked shipping in the Red Sea since Israel broke a ceasefire facilitated by mediators: Egypt, Qatar, and the United States in Gaza on 18 March.
