CAIRO – 28 August 2025: Egypt will introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a subject in the educational curricula of first-year high school students starting next semester, said Shadi Zalta, the spokesman for the Ministry of Education, on Thursday.

In a phone-in with “This Morning" program, broadcast on Extra News TV, Zalta said that the subject will be extracurricular, and comes within the framework of the state's efforts to teach school students about the AI in recognition of its great importance, and in keeping pace with global technological developments.

Zalta added that Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif has made repeated visits to Japan during the past nine months to prepare for this initiative with a number of institutions. He further noted that the minister directed the conduct of a comprehensive study to identify the institutions that best teach artificial intelligence.
