CAIRO - 27 August 2025: The National Council for Motherhood and Childhood (NCMC) honored Wednesday Heidi Mohamed, a girl who returned a bag of chips to give the money to a person in need.

Heidi, whose father owns a car repair workshop, went viral after a CCTV video circulated on social media showing her kind act. The owner of the market, who later posted the video, told her to take the chips for free, but she politely refused.

Heidi said in a video interview by Cairo24 that she “felt compassion” towards the elderly man to whom she gave L.E. 5, the price of the chips.

Her father said he was at first worried that she went viral, but later felt proud of her. Mohamed said he was not surprised when he saw the video because “she is the kindest.”

Head of the NCMC Sahar Al-Sonbati said she admires Heidi’s family for instilling the values of sacrifice, giving, and altruism in their daughter. Sonbati said she will accompany Heidi in her first day of school to honor her among her schoolmates.

The NCMC appointed Heidi as its “mercy ambassador.”
