CAIRO – 25 August 2025: Egypt strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces’s targeting of the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis in the besieged Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing of innocent civilians, including medical personnel and journalists.

This act represents yet another grave violation of international humanitarian law committed by the occupying forces, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday.

Egypt expressed its unequivocal rejection of the deliberate targeting of journalists, as well as medical and humanitarian workers, and strongly denounced the ongoing crimes of Israeli genocide being perpetrated against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The Egyptian government called on the United Nations Security Council and the international community to urgently uphold their responsibilities by taking immediate and effective measures to stop this dangerous escalation and to bring an end to the Israeli war on Gaza.

Palestinian medical sources confirmed that the death toll from the Israeli bombing of Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza, has risen to 15, including four journalists: Reuters photographer Hossam al-Masry, Al Jazeera photographer Mohammed Salama, Journalist Mariam Abu Daqqa and Journalist Moaaz Abu Taha.

Nasser Medical Complex confirmed that the Israeli occupation targeted the operations department in the Yassin building of Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis.

Journalist Mariam has left a will to her son, asking him not to cry and pray for her soul. She asked him to take care of himself to make her proud of him. The following is the full text of her will.

The will of the martyred journalist Mariam Abu Daqqa to her son Ghaith

Ghaith, my heart and the soul of your mother,

I ask that you pray for me and not weep so that I may rest in peace.

Make me proud by working hard, succeeding in your studies, and becoming a capable, accomplished young man. Strive to build a future for yourself, to become a respected businessman.

My dearest, never forget me. Everything I did was to see you happy, comfortable, and fulfilled.

And when the time comes, when you marry and have a daughter, name her Mariam, after me.

You are my love, my strength, my pride, and my joy. Always carry yourself with dignity, and let your actions honor my memory.

I entrust you, dearest Ghaith: guard your prayers above all else. Your prayers, then your prayers, then your prayers.

With all my love,

Your mother, Mariam.

The Israeli army is currently tightening the noose around the displaced people crowded into Gaza City, using starvation and bombing to force them to flee the area again before invading and seizing it.

The hunger crisis in Gaza intensified after Israel imposed a blockade preventing food and other vital supplies from entering the Strip on March 2. While it lifted the blockade in May, it allowed only small amounts of aid into the Strip for weeks afterward.
