CAIRO – 21 August 2025: Tragedy struck in Matrouh on Thursday after a major traffic collision involving several cars and a heavy truck that overturned and caught fire west of Al-Dabaa city, leaving two people dead and 18 others seriously injured.

 

The victims were rushed to Al-Dabaa Central Hospital, but despite medical efforts, two of the critically injured could not be saved. A total of 20 people were admitted to the hospital with various injuries, ranging from fractures and head trauma to severe bruises and internal bleeding.

 

A source from the Matrouh Health Directorate confirmed the death of two of the victims in the tragic accident on the Matrouh road, west of El-Dabaa. The crash, which injured 20 people with some in critical condition, occurred on the Matrouh coastal highway, near the Sawani Jaber area, about 10 kilometers west of El-Dabaa.

 

The incident began when a transport truck overturned and caught fire, causing chaos and a chain reaction collision with several other vehicles. Fifteen ambulances rushed to the scene to transport the injured, including the critical cases, to El-Dabaa Central Hospital for necessary treatment, examinations, and surgery.

 

Upon receiving the report, police and traffic forces immediately responded to the scene to evacuate the injured and clear the road.
