President Sisi extends term of SCA Chairman Osama Rabie for one year

CAIRO – 11 August 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, has issued Republican Decree No. 426 of 2025, extending the term of Admiral Osama Mounir Mohamed Rabie as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Member of the Suez Canal Authority for one year, effective from August 12, 2025.

 

The decision was published in the official gazette Al-Waqa'i' al-Misriyya to come into force.

 

Last year, President Sisi externed Rabie’s term for one year. On August 17, 2019, President Sisi appointed Rabie as Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), succeeding Admiral Mohab Mamish.

 

Rabie was born in 1955 and graduated from the Egyptian Naval Academy in 1977, according to the State Information Service (SIS).

 

Throughout his military career, he was promoted to several key positions, most notably Commander of the Minesweeper Group, Chief of Staff of the Mine Action Brigade, Commander of the Marine Arts Pavilion at the Naval Academy, and Commander of the Mine Action Brigade.

 

In April 2005, he assumed command of the Egyptian Naval Forces and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General in the same year. He has been awarded several medals, including the Medal of Long Service and Good Example, the Military Duty Medal (Second Class), and the January 25 and June 30 Medals.

 

In December 2016, he was appointed Vice Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority.
