President Luong Cuong of Vietnam visits Grand Egyptian Museum, Giza Pyramids

CAIRO – 11 August 2025: President Luong Cuong of Vietnam and his accompanying delegation visited on Monday the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Giza Pyramids as part of his currant visit to Egypt.

Executive Head of the Museum Authority Ahmed Ghoneim welcomed the Vietnamese President and the delegation. He accompanied them on a tour during which they listened to a detailed explanation of the museum's history and unique collections, most notably the collection of the Golden King Tutankhamun, which will be fully displayed and inaugurated with the museum's official opening on November 1.

President Cuong expressed his admiration for the museum's architectural design and its distinguished archaeological treasures. He also gifted the museum with a replica of ‘Ngoc Lu’ bronze drum, an important cultural symbol in Vietnam. The museum's Executive Head expressed his gratitude for this valuable gift.

The visit also included a tour of the Giza Pyramids area, beginning with the Great Pyramid of King Khufu. They were received by Professor Ashraf Mohieddin, Director General of Giza Antiquities, who provided a detailed explanation of the history of the pyramids and the construction, carving, and transportation techniques used by the ancient Egyptians to build them.

The tour continued with a visit to the Great Sphinx, where the delegation learned about the history of its carving and posed for commemorative photos. They then proceeded to the panorama area to view the pyramids of King Khafre, King Menkaure, and the pyramids of the queens.
