Egypt continues efforts to address humanitarian crisis in Gaza Strip

CAIRO - 4 August 2025: The Egyptian state continues its efforts on several fronts to address the humanitarian crisis in the devastated Gaza Strip.

 

Aid convoys continue to arrive from the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing toward Karam Abu Salem, delivering aid to displaced Palestinians as part of Egypt's ongoing efforts to provide relief to the Palestinian people.

 

Al-Qahera TV News Channel reported that the sixth convoy of the Egyptian Red Crescent, comprising dozens of trucks loaded with large quantities of food, medical supplies, and medicines, entered through the Rafah crossing. Two diesel fuel trucks departed the convoy carrying 107 tons of diesel allocated to operate vital facilities in the Strip, such as hospitals and water stations.

 

The Egyptian Red Crescent confirmed that the "Zad Al-Izza" convoy, carrying approximately 340 trucks of relief aid to Gaza, is on its sixth day.

 

The Egyptian Red Crescent continues to intensify its humanitarian response in support of the Gaza Strip and serves as a national coordination mechanism for the delivery of aid. As part of its ongoing efforts, the European Revenue Centre launched additional convoys under the "Zad Al-Izza... From Egypt to Gaza" initiative, which began on Sunday, July 27, heading towards southern Gaza via the Kerem Shalom crossing.

 

These convoys transported more than 5,000 tons of vital humanitarian aid, including comprehensive food supplies, flour, fresh bread, infant formula, medical equipment, essential medicines, and hygiene materials. This initiative is part of Egypt's ongoing commitment to addressing the urgent food and health needs of the civilian population in Gaza.

 

In a parallel effort, Egyptian Red Crescent volunteers produce fresh bread daily at the organization's automated bakery, located within the food supply center—known as the "Humanitarian Kitchen"—in Sheikh Zuweid, North Sinai. This operation is part of the "Warm Meal from Egypt to Gaza" initiative, which aims to provide immediate nutrition amid severe food insecurity across the Strip.

 

 

Rafah Crossing 

 

The Rafah border crossing on the Egyptian side remained open throughout the crisis, and Egyptian Red Crescent teams continued to work around the clock through its logistical hubs, facilitating the entry of approximately 35,000 aid trucks carrying nearly 500,000 tons of food, medical, and relief supplies, packaged through the efforts of more than 35,000 dedicated volunteers.

 

In Gaza, a Palestinian was killed and three others were injured early Sunday morning as a result of Israeli occupation forces' shelling of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society's headquarters in Khan Yunis.

 

The society explained in a brief press release that Israeli occupation forces bombed the first floor of the building, killing one employee and wounding three others, and sparking a fire.

 

Israeli military vehicles advanced toward the Al-Amal neighborhood west of Khan Yunis under the cover of intense shelling from drones and artillery.

 

The Israeli occupation army carried out extensive bombing operations, causing shrapnel to fall on tents housing displaced persons in the Asdaa area of Khan Yunis.

 

In occupied Jerusalem, extremist Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday, accompanied by a number of his followers. This came after he led a provocative march of settlers into the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, in preparation for widespread incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the occasion of the so-called "Anniversary of the Destruction of the Temple."

 

Ben-Gvir declared during his storming of the Old City: "We are not content with mourning. We are thinking about rebuilding the Temple, about sovereignty, and about imposing rule. We have done this in many places, and we will do it in Gaza as well," according to the Palestinian News Agency, WAFA.
