CAIRO - 4 August 2025: In a scene reflecting the humane face of Egypt's police force, the early hours of the Senate elections, Monday, witnessed numerous touching moments captured by citizens on their phone cameras. Across various governorates, repeated instances of police officers providing humanitarian assistance around polling stations were documented.

Images of police officers pushing wheelchairs for the elderly and people with disabilities dominated the election scene. Numerous security personnel were keen to escort voters requiring assistance into the polling centers, offering a helping hand until they reached the voting booths. This civilized display reflects the Ministry of Interior's commitment to integrating a humanitarian dimension into its security plan.

The forms of humanitarian support around the polling stations varied: assisting seniors in crossing roads, opening designated passages for them, and providing bottled water to citizens to combat the heat, especially in areas that saw crowds from the opening of the polls. Female police officers also participated in supporting women, gently directing them to voting areas, and offering assistance to those needing support or logistical escort.

These scenes extended to include the organized presence of traffic police who helped ease traffic flow near the polling stations. Some also assisted the elderly in crossing streets and safely reaching their committees, all without disrupting traffic operations. This showcased a remarkable harmony between security, organizational, and humanitarian performance.

These actions were taken in light of directives from Major General Mahmoud Tawfik, the Minister of Interior. He emphasized the necessity of providing maximum support and assistance to humanitarian cases, ensuring that the environment around the polling stations was conducive to receiving all citizens, especially the elderly and those with special needs, and removing any obstacles they might face while exercising their electoral right.

The Ministry of Interior also deployed a large number of security patrols and traffic services, equipped with the latest communication tools and logistical technologies, to continuously monitor the situation around the polling stations. This ensured ongoing security discipline and smooth traffic flow without disruption, in addition to supporting efforts to facilitate citizens' access to polling places.

In other scenes, cameras captured direct interaction between citizens and police officers. A number of elderly voters expressed their gratitude for the polite treatment from security personnel, confirming that these humanitarian gestures significantly motivated them to participate. Expressions reflecting confidence in security agencies and voters' comfort with the organized police presence were frequently heard.

Around several polling stations, police officers were seen setting up rest chairs for the elderly in waiting areas, gently guiding citizens to the correct entry and exit paths, with clear implementation of security procedures without causing any burden to the citizens. Some expressed their appreciation for the attention and care they experienced, which made election day a positive and encouraging experience for future participation.

The Ministry continues to implement its security plan in parallel with humanitarian instructions, through operation rooms spread across all security directorates nationwide. These rooms monitor the electoral process around the clock, track reports, and dispatch forces to areas of need immediately, ensuring swift handling of any emergency situation without delay or confusion.

These humanitarian images, which have become a recurring scene in Egypt's democratic milestones, reflect a qualitative shift in the philosophy of security work. It is no longer limited to simply enforcing order but has become an active partner in supporting citizens and creating an environment that encourages political participation and strengthens citizens' trust in their state and its institutions.

The participation of police officers with such a clear humanitarian presence was not an exceptional or fleeting measure, but rather part of a clear plan based on integrating security efficiency with societal awareness. The state understands that the success of any election is not measured solely by turnout, but also by the quality of organization, respect for citizen dignity, and support for those who need help without discrimination.

As voting continues in the coming hours, the scene of integration between security and humanity around the polling stations persists, with the citizen remaining the focus of attention. Ensuring their comfort and dignity is a goal no less important than securing the ballot boxes.
