CAIRO – 2 August 2025 – The State Information Service (SIS) has finalized its preparations to facilitate international media coverage of Egypt’s 2025 Senate elections, set to take place domestically on Monday and Tuesday, August 4–5, according to Journalist Diaa Rashwan, Head of the SIS.

Rashwan announced the formation of a central operations room, headed by the SIS chief, and comprising the Foreign Correspondents Press Center, as well as the SIS’s Foreign Media and Information sectors. The operations room is tasked with supporting foreign media correspondents accredited by the National Elections Authority (NEA), both resident and visiting journalists.

The support mechanisms include streamlined communication channels and logistical assistance to facilitate media coverage and swiftly address any challenges journalists may encounter.

Rashwan noted that the elections have attracted wide international media interest. A total of 86 Arab and foreign media outlets have been granted permits to cover the electoral process—comprising 82 media institutions and 4 media service companies.

This group includes 21 of the world’s most prominent news agencies, 6 leading regional and international radio and television networks, 25 television channels, and 23 newspapers and magazines. Additionally, permits were issued to 3 well-known online news platforms.
