Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty, held a telephone conversation with Ms. Maria Lucas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Mozambique
CAIRO – 1 August 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty, held a telephone conversation with Ms. Maria Lucas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Mozambique. The call came as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and maintain consultation and coordination on regional issues of mutual interest.
Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s pride in its close ties with Mozambique and reaffirmed Cairo’s commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation, especially following the recent election of Mozambican President Daniel Chapo and in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He emphasized Egypt’s interest in expanding collaboration in the areas of capacity building, education, healthcare, and infrastructure, in addition to boosting trade exchange and joint investments. He also underscored the importance of organizing a new round of political consultations between the two nations.
For her part, Minister Lucas expressed Mozambique’s appreciation for Egypt’s continued support, particularly in capacity building, and conveyed her eagerness to deepen cooperation across various sectors. She commended Egypt’s vital role on both African and global platforms.
The two ministers also exchanged views on several regional issues and the broader security and development challenges facing the African continent. They agreed to maintain close coordination in regional forums and to enhance joint action within the framework of the African Union, in support of the principles of solidarity and continental integration.
