He made the remarks during a meeting in Washington with Senator Chris Coons, a member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

He highlighted Egypt’s vital role in supporting security and stability in the Middle East region.

The minister also pointed to the momentum in bilateral relations, emphasizing their shared interest in enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on developments in Gaza, where Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s position on the Palestinian cause.

He highlighted Egypt's efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement, facilitate the exchange of hostages and prisoners, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and expedite early recovery programs to pave the way for reconstruction.

Abdelatty stressed the necessity of finding a political horizon for settling the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state solution and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

Regarding the developments in Sudan, the minister reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Sudan's state institutions and the importance of respecting the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Sudan.

As for the Egyptian water security issue, he expressed Egypt's concerns regarding the Nile water file, underscoring the necessity of adhering to international law concerning shared water resources.

He emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation based on consensus and mutual benefit to achieve the interests of all Nile Basin countries, rejecting unilateral measures that violate international law.

He asserted that Egypt will take all possible measures under international law to protect its water security.
