CAIRO – 19 July 2025: Cairo on Friday welcomed the decisions of the United States and Britain to improve their travel advisories for Egypt, stating that both countries have placed Egypt at level 2.
Both the US and the UK use multi-level travel advisories with different advice for travelers based on the security circumstances in each country. For the US, level two means that visitors should exercise increased caution, while level 3 of its advisory means that visitors should reconsider their need for travel.
The US decision places Egypt alongside countries like France and Germany. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised this development as a "notable positive step."
Meanwhile, the ministry welcomed the British government’s upgrade for travel advise to Egypt and their note that nearly one million Britons visit Egypt each year, emphasizing that this reflects the security and stability climate that the country enjoys.
Cairo affirmed that the adjustments in travel advisories come as a result of communications made by the ministry and Egyptian embassies abroad in recent times with various countries, aimed at boosting tourism flow to Egypt.
These improvements are significant for Egypt, which relies on tourism as a vital source of foreign currency, alongside Suez Canal revenues, remittances from Egyptian expatriates and foreign investments.
Egypt welcomed over 15 million tourists in 2024 and aims to attract 30 million tourists by 2028.
