CAIRO – 18 July 2025: The Egyptian National Elections Authority (NEA) has released the final list of candidates for the upcoming Senate elections, approving 428 individual candidates and 100 list-based candidates, along with an equal number of alternatives.
The list was finalized after the conclusion of the appeal period and the disqualification of 41 candidates through court rulings. A total of 469 candidates had originally submitted nomination papers.
The NEA confirmed that the official election campaign period has begun and will run until 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 31. The campaign silence period will commence immediately afterward, in accordance with the authority's official schedule. Voting will take place on August 4 and 5, 2025.
The authority emphasized that, as of today, all approved candidates are entitled to begin their electoral campaigns, which are permitted to continue for 14 days.
The NEA also announced that approximately 68 million Egyptians are eligible to vote in this year’s Senate elections—an increase of around one million compared to the previous presidential election, during which the voter base surpassed 67 million.
On July 1, 2025, the NEA called on all eligible citizens, both within Egypt and abroad, to participate actively in the electoral process. It reaffirmed its commitment to conducting transparent, inclusive, and legally sound elections.
