Egypt, 10 Arab States reaffirm support for Syria’s sovereignty

CAIRO – 17 July 2025: The foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and Lebanon declared full support for Syria’s security, unity, and sovereignty, while rejecting all forms of foreign interference in its internal affairs.

In a joint statement, the ministers welcomed the agreement to end the crisis in Sweida and urged full enforcement to prevent violence and uphold state control. They welcomed the commitment of Syrian President Ahmed El Shar'a to hold accountable all officials responsible for violations against Syrian citizens in Al Suwayda governorate.

They welcomed the agreement reached to end the crisis in Suwayda, urging full implementation to protect civilians, maintain state authority, and prevent further bloodshed.

The ministers condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on the Syrian territories, describing them as blatant violations of international law and the Syrian sovereignty. They warned that such actions threaten regional security and undermine Syria’s efforts for reconstruction.

The statement called on the international community to support Syria’s reconstruction process and urged the UN Security Council to ensure Israel’s full withdrawal from the occupied Syrian land, stop all hostilities, and implement Resolution 2766 and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

The ministers described Syria’s stability as essential to the wider region and pledged continued cooperation to support the country’s unity and recovery.
