This came during a meeting at Cairo University, in the presence of Lu Chunsheng, Minister Counselor of Education of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, and Rehab Mahmoud, Director of the Confucius Institute and Head of the Chinese Language Department at the Faculty of Arts.
During the meeting, Ragab hailed as “historic” relations between Egypt and China, affirming shared commitment to expanding cooperation in various fields, especially in scientific research, technology, agriculture, environment, health, humanities and archaeology.
Cairo University has strong partnerships with several Chinese universities, Ragab said, highlighting the university’s significant progress in prestigious international rankings.
He said that Cairo University is now ranked among the top 300 universities worldwide according to the QS World University Rankings 2025, with some disciplines ranked among the top 50 globally.
He added that the university houses the Confucius Institute, which plays a vital role in teaching Chinese language and culture, and also has a Chinese Language Department at the Faculty of Arts.
For her part, Zhu Hui, the vice chairperson of Zhejiang University Council, expressed pleasure over visiting Cairo University, describing it as one of the oldest and most prestigious educational institutions in Egypt and globally.
She praised the university’s accomplishments in disciplines such as law, medicine, engineering, and the humanities, highlighting its position among the top 300 in the QS ranking.
She affirmed Zhejiang University's commitment to strengthening its collaboration with Cairo University and announced the donation of the "Chinese Paintings of Successive Dynasties" series to the Confucius Institute in recognition of its outstanding efforts in Chinese language education.
Meanwhile, Lu Chunsheng, Educational Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, described the current period as a "golden age" for Egypt-China cooperation, particularly in politics, education, and technology.
