Photos: 2 dead, 6 injured in building collapse in Alexandria

CAIRO – 13 July 2025: A building collapse in the Al-Attareen area of Alexandria has resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to six others, with search efforts ongoing for missing persons beneath the rubble.

The incident occurred in a residential building on Al-Khedive Street while it was occupied. The structure consisted of four stories and a partial fifth floor.

Efforts to clear the debris are currently underway, with Governor of Alexandria Ahmed Hassan arriving at the scene alongside security officials and civil defense forces.

 

The injured individuals have been transported to the hospital for treatment, while the deceased have been taken to the morgue.

The head of Alexandria’s central district stated that the building was occupied by residents and had received an order for the demolition of the fourth floor and part of the fifth floor, along with plans for the restoration of the rest of the building.

 

The governor emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring until the rubble is completely cleared, ensuring that the injured receive necessary medical care.

He also ordered the formation of an engineering committee to investigate and review the building's records.

Investigation is underway as a team from the prosecution has arrived at the scene.
