CAIRO – 12 July 2025: The Egyptian National Elections Authority (NEA) has released the preliminary lists of approved candidates and their electoral symbols for the 2025 Senate elections.
These candidates represent 27 governorates under the individual candidacy system and four constituencies under the party list system.
The preliminary list for individual candidates includes 469 names. For the list-based system, 100 primary candidates and 100 alternates have been approved.
Egypt is preparing for its upcoming Senate elections, allowing citizens both within the country and abroad to express their preferences for representation in August.
According to the NEA, around 68 million voters are eligible to participate in the election process. On 1 July, the NEA invited voters to cast their ballots in the Senate elections.
Voting for Egyptians abroad will take place on August 1 and 2, while domestic voting is scheduled for August 4 and 5.
The official results of the Senate elections will be announced and published in the official gazette on August 12.
