CAIRO – 11 July 2025: The Israeli army on Friday confirmed the death of Captain Reei Biran, a member of the notorious Golani Brigade, in southern Gaza.

His death on Thursday raises the total military fatalities since the onset of the war to 890.

Among the fatalities, 41 military personnel have been killed since Israel breached a ceasefire with Hamas last March, resuming operations that have killed over 7,000 Palestinians since then.

Since the war start in October, 2023, Hamas has released footage showing its forces targeting Israelis with anti-tank missiles, small arms, and even explosives at distance zero, taking out hundreds of Israeli soldiers.

The Israeli forces spread all over Gaza have killed 57,000 people there, the majority of whom are women and children, according to the enclave’s health ministry.

Hamas has advocated for an end to the Israeli war and withdrawal of troops from Gaza in exchange for the release of all captives still held there.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected Hamas’ offer for a comprehensive captive release, insisting that the movement’s military and governing capabilities must be eliminated first.

Israeli opposition has accused Netanyahu and his government of unnecessarily prolonging the war to evade political troubles, endangering the lives of Israeli soldiers as well as the captives.

Hamas previously warned that the renewed Israeli aggression represents "a death sentence" for the remaining captives.
