CAIRO – 9 July 2025: Egypt is preparing for its upcoming Senate elections, allowing citizens both within the country and abroad to express their preferences for representation in August.

According to the National Election Authority (NEA), around 68 million voters are eligible to participate in the election process.

Here are the key dates for the electoral timeline:

- Voting for Egyptians abroad will take place on August 1 and 2, while domestic voting is scheduled for August 4 and 5.

- The counting of votes and the submission of results to the general committees, along with decisions regarding objections and other voting-related matters, will be completed by August 12.

- The official results of the Senate elections will be announced and published in the official gazette on August 12.

- Campaigning for the runoff elections will resume on August 12.

- The NEA will accept appeals against the decisions of the general committees for 48 hours after the results, with a deadline of August 14.

- Appeals submitted regarding the decisions of the general committees will be addressed by the Supreme Administrative Court within 10 days, from August 15 to 24.

- The second period of campaign silence for the runoff will begin on August 24.

- Runoff elections will take place for expatriates on August 25 and 26.

- Domestic voting for the runoff will be held on August 27 and 28.

- The final results of the elections will be announced and published in the official gazette on September 4.

On 1 July, the NEA invited voters to cast their ballots in the Senate elections and announced that the nomination period for Senate membership would open on July 5 for five days, closing on July 10.

During this period, the NEA is receiving nomination papers daily from 9 AM to 5 PM at designated locations, with the last day extending to 2 PM.

The preliminary list of candidates will be announced on July 11, and the Supreme Administrative Court will resolve any appeals from July 14 to 16, followed by the announcement of the final list of candidates on July 18.

On July 31, starting 12 AM, the electoral silence will commence, halting all campaign activities two days before the election date.
