CAIRO – 4 July 2025: Hamas delivered its response on the US-brokered proposal for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza to mediators on Friday, Reuters quoted a Palestinian official familiar with the talks as saying.

He added that the proposal is “positive and should help reach a deal.”

Hamas movement issued a brief statement on Friday, highlighting its commitment to ending the Israeli aggression against Palestinians and ensuring the free entry of humanitarian aid.

The statement indicated that Hamas is currently in discussions with leaders of various Palestinian factions regarding a proposal received from the mediators.

Hamas confirmed that it will deliver its final decision to the mediators following the conclusion of these consultations, and it will announce the decision publicly.

US President Donald Trump said earlier this week said he hopes Hamas accepts the proposal “because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE,” asserting that Israel has agreed to the “necessary conditions” to reach the deal.

During the period of the proposed ceasefire, Trump said the US will “work with all parties to end the War.”

Talks about a possible ceasefire comes while Israeli forces continue to kill dozens of Palestinian civilians every day across Gaza amid absence of accountability.

According to Gaza’s health ministry, Israeli forces have so far killed more than 57,000, most of whom are women and children.

The deaths include nearly 600 humanitarian aid seekers near the distribution centers of the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), an American newly-established organization backed by Israel and which Hamas has called “death traps.”

Israeli forces resumed bombardment on Gaza on March 18, shattering a two-month ceasefire that was brokered by Egypt, Qatar and the US and had resulted in the release of 38 captives from Gaza, 30 of whom were alive.
